The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of ‘Geologist - OP’ – ‘Γεωλόγος – Ανοιχτής Εξόρυξης’, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Senior Mine Geologist – OP in Skouries.

Main Responsibilities:

·      Daily Open pit ore control and reporting

·      Ensure all benches and walls are mapped, with information used for development of 3D geological models.

·      Open pit mapping and collection of geotechnical information

·      Routine supervision of drilling activities

·      Responsible for the data extraction from geological core logging, mapping and sampling, in order to ensure effective production of payable ore.

·      Analysis and assessment of all geological data to advise on short-term mine production plans.

·      Supervise diamond and RC drilling programs (RC, Geotechnical, Hydrological)

·      Geologic and geotechnical data collection from drill core and drill chips

·      Participate in the execution of ore grade control, sorting of ore types and tracking material management.

·      Responsible for maintaining and collating face maps, grade reports, and assist in updating geological interpretations

·      Prepare drilling daily productivity report, process and manage of daily ore tracking and manage ore stockpiles needed for metallurgical blending

·      Achieve efficient ore mark-up process and ensure easy identification of ore and waste blocks.

·      Supervision of ore zone mining – maximizing recovery, minimizing dilution

·      Apply a knowledge of fundamental geology to develop an understanding of how rock types and structure in the mine impact on groundwater occurrence and movement.

·      Assist and the development and maintenance of geological and geotechnical modelling.

·      Utilize high end computer software designed for mining operations such as mine design, modelling, mapping and monitoring mine conditions.

·      Liaise with relevant mining personnel regarding grade control and ore production issues and protocols

·      Help in the optimization of geological systems and procedures as well as ensure that they are being effectively utilized.

·      Prepare memos, maps, and reports interpreting findings of data collection and evaluation, model updates and provide guidance and recommendations.

Requirements:

·      B.Sc. in Geology

·      MSc will be considered as an asset.

·      Experience in the related fields of Geology and Mine Geology.

·      Experience in ore control, statistical analytical techniques, and using mining software that includes 3D modelling is required.

·      Excellent computers skills. Level of familiarization with either Geology software (Leapfrog) or other related design software.

·      Proficient in verbal and written English is required.

·      Team working spirit.

·      Complex problems solving & Critical thinking.

·      Communicating effectively.

·      Ability to work under pressure

·      Planning and organizational skills, including goal setting and ability to modify priorities where necessary.

·      Desire to continually learn and grow in relevant career/skills.

·      Driving license (B' category).
