Position: Community Worker – Consumption and Treatment Services

Status: Casual (Required to work weekends)
Salary Scale: $18.63 - $22.43 hourly plus 8% vacation pay in lieu of benefits + 10% Premium to the hourly rate for hours worked on Saturday and Sunday
Start Date: Immediately

Position Description:
The Community Worker is a member of the CTS team and works closely with team members to provide the highest possible quality of health care services to clients. The Community Worker provides support to the Drop-In, the Junction and the waiting areas / lobbies / front door area. The role of the Community Worker is to encourage clients to use agency and community services and to provide harm reduction strategies, information and referral. In addition, the Community Worker provides the insight from the perspective of lived experience that is central to planning and delivering services.
Reporting Relationship:
The Community Worker is directly accountable for the carrying out of their duties to the CTS Team Leader and through them to the Director of CTS and to the Executive Director.

In lieu of benefits, 8% vacation pay is added to the hourly rate. We provide our employees the opportunity to enroll in our Pension Plan (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan - HOOPP).
Conditions of Employment:
Hours of work will be developed in collaboration with the successful candidate to ensure a healthy work-life balance. A schedule of work will be based on the Centre’s hours of operation and program requirements and may include some evenings.
Sandy Hill Community Health Centre runs a criminal record check on all employees of the Centre. If you have a police record, you can still work at Sandy Hill CHC. Charges will be assessed case by case. If an applicant has been recently violent or violent towards vulnerable people, they may not be able to work at the Centre.
Employees of Sandy Hill CHC cannot access services or medical care at the Centre. If you accept this position, we can help you find a new family doctor, OAT prescriber, gear distribution centre, or supervised consumption space.
